who comes to see me
Clients of all ages with all kinds of issues come to see me and they come to see me for many different reasons. In truth, most of my clients find me because they have tried everything else and nothing works. I've worked with newborn infants who have, for example, difficulty sucking, trouble sleeping, or even colic; babies and toddlers who have simple movement difficulties or more serious medical conditions or developmental delays. I've even worked with mothers dealing with the discomfort they experience from physical and structural changes post-pregnancy and from natural childbirth and reducing the recovery period and pain from c-section childbirth. Many of my clients suffer from acute or chronic pain and get phenomenal results from my technique; others seek treatment as an alternative to surgery, or as a method of rehabilitation post surgery or injury. And, then I have clients who just want to change their posture and improve their structural alignment.
My clients include 80-year-old senior citizens suffering from severe arthritic pain; children with ADHD; children who suffer from allergies, hyperactivity and even minor problems concentrating; individuals, including children, who've been diagnosed at different levels on the autistic spectrum; teenagers and adults suffering from depression; individuals who have debilitating eating disorders; pre-pubescent individuals experiencing pain from the physical and structural changes that happen during growth spurts; individuals who have severe medical conditions and rare disorders such as lupus, scleroderma, Lyme disease and even those suffering with fibromyalgia to name a few.
Then I've got clients who see me not only for pain management but for maintenance and they want to keep their bodies in top form and prevent injuries. I've worked with professional ballet dancers and competitive, high-performing athletes who deal with the intense strain on their bodies from repetitive and unnatural movement and injuries and who wish to increase their performance level. Many see me just to improve or increase their overall health and well-being; avoid the early onset of old-age related conditions and discomfort; assist with the difficulties of menopause and hormonal changes; keep their bodies in good physical health so that they can stay active; and, the ability to achieve their optimum functional performance on a daily basis.
about me personally
I've had so many ask me how I've ended up here and why I've moved into an area so far away from my degree and background in economics. For the past several years I’ve been researching and experimenting with a unique form of manual therapy. I’ve been highly focused on pioneering and developing an integral form of therapeutic modality with one goal: to optimize individual functional and structural ability and increase individual performance potential.
So, what exactly does this mean? This means that I want anyone with any type of issue, it doesn't matter what it is or what the root cause might be, to have it resolved, without pain, as quickly as possible and for this to be long lasting if not permanent.
Besides having a fascination with the body and it’s multi-dimensional mechanism and my determination to develop an integral approach to health and wellness, my son has been an enormous motivating factor. At 10 months old he suffered a very rare form of neurological injury called acute necrotizing encephalopathy of childhood. Don't worry if you've never heard of this most doctors haven't either. I’ve worked tirelessly on him these past years and he has far surpassed medical prognosis and expectation. Actually, this is an understatement. He was given 24 hours to live and to date he is still the only known survivor in the world of this rare condition with this level of severity of neurological injury. He is now 9 years of age and I'm proud to say, after being told that he would at best remain in a vegetative state, that my son is an author of three published books with four more in the process of publication. Now that's quite something. Yes, I'm a proud Dad.
about my work
My work targets fascia, connective tissue, nervous system, musculoskeletal system, and craniosacral rhythms by addressing complex physiological processes and physical structure. Specifically, my work manipulates the body's fascia, connective tissue and the nervous system which impacts mechanoreceptors and incorporates the immune, endocrine, enteric and autonomic systems. This results in pain reduction and alleviation; stabilizing physical structure; enhanced physiological function; balancing central nervous system operation; and optimizing and increasing performance.
This form of manipulative therapy is performed manually during table work and floor work, while making use of both passive and active movement from the client. This development of manual therapy came from my desire to create a more complete and effective manual approach and method that would address complex physiological and physical conditions on an integral level; effectively provide higher quality, longer lasting and faster effects and optimum results.
As well as being a highly effective technique on its own, my modality assists, supports, complements and enhances the goals of traditional medicine, chiropractic and osteopathic approaches. My technique draws upon my qualifications and experience in Structural Integration, Rolfing, Rossiter, Upledger, Biodynamic and Osteopathic Craniosacral Therapy, Osteopathy, Advanced Biomechanical Rehabilitation, Loren Berry Method, Feldenkrais Method, Anat Baniel Method, Functional Movement, Natural Human Movement, and Integral Nutrition.
